Intuguard Custom Fit Intubation Mouth Guard for Dental Protection During Surgical Procedures is a simple, proven solution designed and engineered to protect the teeth from costly dental injuries during intubations and trans-oral procedures (e.g. endoscopic surgeries). There are currently 23 million intubations a year in the USA resulting in 50,000 dental injuries. Intuguard is made of a non-compressible thermoplastic polymer material that does not cave in or break, offering superior dental protection during surgical procedures. Using hot water, fitting an Intugaurd is simple, fast and can be done at home before surgery or in pre-op. The Intuguard is ultra-thin, ultra-strong and offers a custom comfort fit that will stay in place during intubations and trans-oral medical procedures. Intuguard is also remoldable, and can be put back in hot water and refit. The Intuguard Custom Fit Intubation Mouth Guard is free of BPA, PVC, phthaltes and latex. Under a grant from the National Science Foundation, Intuguard was developed at Akervall Technologies Inc., in Saline, MI, by Dr. Jan Akervall M.D., Ph.D. (ranked top 1% ENT physician in the USA) and Professor Johannes Schwank, Ph.D. (world-renowned chemical engineer, University of Michigan).
