Sobre este producto
  • Caryota obtusa is one of the most striking, spectacular and space-occupying palms one can grow, but it is a giant and needs plenty of room to 'spread its wings'.
  • This little known plant grows in wet forests the mountains of southern China from the foothills of the Himalayas eastwards to northernmost Vietnam, where it seems to be associated with limestone outcrops.
  • While it exhibits the same general habit as the C. obtusa from India and Thailand, it is altogether smaller in stature, forming a more slender and shorter trunk.
  • The few, magnificent, flat, large leaves are reminiscent of a giant tree fern.
  • The palm is commonly called giant fishtail palm or Thai giant caryota. It can reach 20 meters or more in height and is thus considered a tree. It is monocarpic meaning it flowers once, then dies. Its inflorescence can reach 6 meters or more in length.
