NO THANKS is the seventh and final album by Canadian genre-bending artist Gregory Pepper & His Problems. The 25-minute denouement was single handedly written and recorded by the elder statesman of basement pop using D.A.D. (Digital>Analog>Digital) technology. This final serving is a punishingly dense and saturated wall of twee. A cursory glance at the tracklist - NO FRIENDS, I JUST CALLED TO SAY I HATE YOU, I SHIT ON YOUR GRAVE, YOU'LL PAY - is fair warning of the brooding resentment and alienation bubbling below the sprightly melodies. And just so we’re all on the same page: There is no catharsis. The magic is gone and nothing is going to get better.
