- This 661-card set was released over two series. The first series was issued in February, 2007 while the second series This 661-card set was released in two series. This product was issued in a myriad of forms, including hobby wax packs, hobby HTA packs, hobby rack packs. retail packs, and packs specially issued for Walmart. The hobby packs, with an $1.59 SRP, consisted of 10 cards which came 36 packs to a box and 12 boxes to a case. The hobby HTA packs, with an $10 SRP, consisted of 50 cards and those packs were issued 10 packs per box and six boxes per case. The rack packs, with an $3 SRP, consisted of 22 cards and were issued 24 packs to a box and three boxes to a case. One of the big card stories of 2007 involved card #40, Derek Jeter. In the first printing of this card, Mickey Mantle was placed in the dugout and President George W. Bush was placed as a spectator. This card gathered significant national publicity. The following subsets were also included in this set: Team Cards (226-229, 231-242, 244, 591-604): Managers (243, 246-249, 251-259, 266-267, 605-619); Rookies (261-264, 268-69, 271-74, 276-279, 281-284, 286-289, 291-294, 296, 621-624, 625-649); Award Winners (297-299, 301-304, 306-309, 311-314, 316-319, 321-324. 326); Classic Combos (326-329, 650-659). One other interesting twist to these subsets is that they were interrupted in the first series with cards ending in 0 and 5 as an homage to the vintage 60's-80's Topps sets in which star players were usually honored with numbers ending in 0 or 5.
